Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo Pen
Review By James McCarthy | June 13, 2006
Category: stylus and accessories

The Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo Pen is one of those "good things in a small package". This small and portable pen/stylus combo, available for $4.99 at styluscentral.com, is a perfect solution for that everyday, everywhere stylus.

No bigger than 4 inches in height, this black pen/stylus combo easily drops into a pants pocket, hiking pack for those geocachers and quickly mingles in with all that stuff found in the bottom of a woman's purse. The rubber grip is slightly oversized making it easy to hold while writing. It also includes a plastic shirt clip which, for this size pen, never really proved to be useful but made it appear more like a pen if anything else. The pen-tip is accessed with a simple one handed motion either by pressing the stylus tip down or gripping the rubber area and pulling up.

Unlike other multi-functional pen/styli the Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo doesn't require any special angling of the pen first. You simple have to push or pull to begin writing.

If you're not use to writing with smaller than usual instruments then the first few times might feel a little awkward. Adjustment is quick though and before you know it you will be carrying this little gadget gem everywhere you go and searching for it even when you might not need it because you will want to have it when you do.

I found the Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo Pen most useful not with my handheld, but while out geocaching. Tossing this pen into my geocaching bag, which usually contains my Palm Zire 72, mobile phone, camera, GPS, water bottles, small spiral notepad and silly swag for exchange has proven to be a lifesaver time after time. This is because some geocaches are either missing or too small to include a writing utensil. Other times I need an extra cache-tip which is on my Zire 72 via MobiBook and the stylus tip of the Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo Pen comes in handy. In either circumstance this pen gadget is one of the coolest I have used because of its versatility and size.

I tend to use this product more as a pen then stylus because the stylus tip is fat. For example, with my Palm Zire 22 and 72 it is difficult to place the cursor for entering or editing text at the beginning of line. Typically I have to hold the Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo Pen in my mouth while lifting the standard Palm stylus for the silo, tap the beginning of the line, make my edit and then continue using the Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo Pen. It works great for basic tapping and navigating the handheld. It's primarily the outside areas of the screen closest the casing edge that are difficult. This is a bit of pain, but I still wouldn't trade the pen.

Whether you are a handheld user or just someone who needs a pocket-size pen, the Bic Body Action 1.0 Duo Pen is perfect in size, functionality and through StylusCentral.com it is PERFECT in price. In fact, next I'd personally buy two: one for my geocaching pack and another for my pocket.
